With a full complement of 14, the season is looking good.
As tweeted, this year the bonus window is 2 points either side of the exact, and not 3. So to bonus on a game margin of 11, you needed to have tipped 9 or 10, or 12 or 13.
This weeks games and data.
Week 1 and we all start with a clean slate.
All players are on to play this week except the FMI who is on our first bye.
Like in the opening post, the tipping link has been mailed. If you think the hosts are to win, give them the negative number. If you like the visitors to win, then its a positive number.
All the match-ups and games we are watching are below.
Hello All.
Welcome to the @FMplay_NFL tipping competition for NFL matches of the 2021-22 season.
This year I have changed the comp to a single league season, where all players play each other once and have a one week bye. Thirteen players are in this years roster, and we welcome in new players
- @MaxLaughton,
- @Jacob_Hoch79, and
- @Dirty_Pies.
Give them a follow on twitter to keep on top of the banter around tis game.
For those that dont know this game, the 'About' page explains most of the mechanics. But in a nutshell, all you need to do is tip the margin of games selected that are emailed to you in a Google Form format.
The key in this comp is that teams are listed as
Visiting Team at Home Team
SO to tip the home team to win by a margin of 12, then you need to enter -12 into the form.
If you tip the winner and are closest on margin when compared to your opponent, you get a point for that leg. A bonus point is awarded if your tipped margin is within two points of the actual margin. If you tip the margin exactly, you receive two bonus points.
Tally up the points and bonus points of the 5 legs of the round and the best score in your match-up gets the win.
An example of a round is as below.
At the top is the games we are tipping, and they get updates with scores and margins as the week plays out.
Under that is (left) the weeks match-ups and scores, and to the right is the tips for each player listed in their weekly match.
A quick walk through on scoring using the first game, demanopoulos vs j_foreigner.
- both tipped the first game as 10 (Arizona by 10, they win by 13), so its a point each.
- Dem tipped closer to the actual Seattle margin in leg 2, so leads 2-1 as we work down the list.
- third leg and J_F is closer on Pitts, so its 2-2
- Same in the 4th, with J_F closer on SF, so it becomes 2-3
- last leg both players went the same, a=so another point each to finish at 3-4, which is shown at left.
So from that, J_F gets the win (AFL style, 4 points for a win, 2 for a draw) and a points difference of +1. Dem will be on 0 points and -1 points diff.
League standings are published on the 'TABLES' page as per the tab at top of page (and this link for now that shows the above examples as a ladder).
The full draw of the 2021 season is also on the 'SCHEDULE' page.
Later in the week, I'll issue the week 1 tipping form to your email, and the week 1 page will go up on the blog.
As always, the blog posts and results get pushed out to twitter as well, so get me there if you have more questions. Otherwise - Lets get this thing rolling.

OK players, time for an update and to wrap up the year..
First a big thanks to all 14 players. Its been a fun thing to run and I hope its been a good tipping comp for you lot. Let me know your thoughts and particularly any ways to make it better.
I hope to see you again at the back end of 2021 to do it again.
And also and most importantly we have our 2020 season champion with Matt winning over Dem in the final 5-2, with both player scoring bonus points, but Matt just picking up the point in every other leg.
Well played Matt, our second ever title holder.

Here we go, the final two weeks of finals
Best 2 from each conference play for the Conference title and a spot in the Grand Final. Tips entry form has been mailed. Get to it, and DO NOT miss out.
And here we are, at the last round of the season before the conference play-off and then the final.
We will say goodbye to 10 players after this weekend, with the top 2 from each conference playing for a spot in the inter-conference final.
As tweeted, in Conference 1, the final will be between Steiny and Matt, who co-incidentally play this week. Bragging rights and the minor premiership on the line, before the conference title match next week.
Conference 2 is more complicated with three players, FMI, Nick and Dem, who could finish 7-2-4 which would be the best finishes of the conference. From then it comes down to score difference.
There are another 3 players who have very outside chances of finishing 6-2-6 or 6-3-5 and will rely on Dem losing and Nick losing by A LOT.
Anyway - for all 14 players, its been a fun return season after a few years break, and one I want to do again.
Have at the tips and lets see who makes the playoffs.
This is it, the final game of the 2022 FMIplay-NFL season.
